Abstract

Sclerosing peritonitis with fibrothecoma of the ovary is a benign condition of unknown etiology with few reports to date. We report on a 45-year-old woman with a history of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) who presented with a solid mass of the left ovary in combination with ascites and peritoneal thickening. Histopathologic examination showed a fibrothecoma of the left ovarium with reactive change with fibrosis, without malignancy. In this case, an association of this rare entity with an immunologic disease such as SLE was considered.
