Three essays on the economics of science and the economics of education: The role of barriers to success in academia and in school

Research output: Types of ThesisDoctoral ThesisInternal

Abstract

This dissertation consists of three independent chapters in the fields of the economics of science and the economics of education. While the three studies differ in the topic covered, methodological approach and data, the research questions share a common focus on the barriers to success that researchers in academia and students in school might face throughout their careers. Despite schools and universities being increasingly committed to diversity and inclusion, significant barriers and biases may still exist in the educational and academic publication systems. This dissertation is based on three empirical analyses that revolve around such biases and barriers.
